Moyer Leads Volleyball to Sweep at Bowie State

Sophomore Hit .643 With 9 Kills in Lightning's 3rd Win Over Lady Bulldogs

BOWIE, Md.
- Sophomore outside hitter Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) tallied a match-high nine kills and hit .643 as Goldey-Beacom College (4-3) earned its second win in the last three matches, a three-set victory over Bowie State University (0-9) at the Lady Bulldogs' A.C. Jordan Arena on Thursday evening.

The Lightning, who defeated the Lady Bulldogs for the third time this season, wom the match by scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-8.

Moyer recorded a season-high hitting percentage by tallying nine kills in 14 attempts without committing an attack error. Meanwhile, the Lightning hit a season-high .313 as a team with just 10 attack errors. In the first set, they recorded a .360 hitting percentage while making just two errors in 25 attempts.

Senior setter/opposite Monica Dempsey (Secaucus H.S./Secaucus, N.J.) contributed seven kills with 15 assists and four digs, which upped her career total to 995 digs. She needs just five digs to become the fifth player in school history to reach 1,000 career digs.

Freshman libero Mackenzie Wilson (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) added a match-high eight digs for the Lightning in the victory.

Junior middle hitter Brelyn Finley (Charles H. Flowers H.S./District Heights, Md.) led Bowie State in the loss with eight kills.

The Lightning will complete their three-match road trip on Saturday, Sept. 15 with a pair of non-conference matches against Mercy College and Southern New Hampshire University.
