EASTON, Mass. - Sophomore guard Amy Pelletier (Bishop Fenwick H.S./Beverly, Mass.) scored a career-high 20 points by making 8 of 11 shots from the floor to lead Stonehill College (2-0) to its second straight win, a 79-42 victory over Goldey-Beacom College (3-1) in the Skyhawks' Tip-Off Classic at Merkert Gymnasium on Friday evening.

Pelletier, who also had three rebounds, scored 11 of her 20 points in the second half as the Skyhawks broke away after the intermission en route to snapping the Lightning's three-game win streak.

After battlng to an 11-11 draw in the opening eight minutes of the first half, the Skyhawks used an 11-0 run to build a 22-11 advantage with 9:23 remaining before the intermission. Pelletier scored six of her points during the spurt.

Junior guard Briana Richmond-Peters (Brimm Medical Arts H.S./Camden, N.J.) scored back-to-back baskets to trim the deficit to 22-15, but the Skyhawks outscored Goldey-Beacom by a 16-4 margin over the final eight minutes to take a 38-19 lead into the intermission.

The Skyhawks extended their advantage to 49-23 by opening the second half with an 11-4 spurt. From there, the Skyhawks did not lead by fewer than 23 points.

While Pelletier led the Skyhawks to the victory, junior guard Mary Louise Dixon (Wellesley H.S./Wellesley, Mass.) added 13 points with seven assists and five rebounds.

Senior forward Akilah Sewell (Baltimore City College H.S./Baltimore, Md.) led the Lightning with 10 points with seven rebounds while senior guard Irene Hudson (Corcoran H.S./Syracuse, N.Y.) contributed 10 points with five rebounds.

The Lightning will have a short turnaround as they will end their five-game road trip on Saturday afternoon by facing Assumption College at 1:30 p.m. at Merkert Gymnasium.
