WILMINGTON, Del. - After dropping a pair of three-set matches against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponents last week, the Lightning volleyball team will start a busy week on Tuesday night by traveling to Wilmington University for a conference match against the Wildcats.
First serve between the Lightning and the Wildcats is set for 7 p.m. at the WU Athletics Complex.
Now 4-12 overall and 0-8 in the CACC, the Lightning will be looking to earn their first conference win of the season while snapping a nine-match win streak. Goldey-Beacom has not earned a win since a three-set victory over Bowie State on Sept. 13.
The Lightning dropped a three-set decision against the University of the Sciences on Friday night as the Devils earned their second straight win over Goldey-Beacom. Sophomore outside hitter
Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) led the Lightning in the loss by posting her fourth "double double" of the season with a match-high 12 kills and 11 digs.
Meanwhile, senior setter/opposite
Monica Dempsey (Secaucus H.S./Secaucus, N.J.) contributed her team-leading seventh "double double" of the year with 12 assists and 14 digs. Freshman setter
Jamika Townsend (King's Fork H.S./Suffolk, Va.) posted 16 assists with nine digs against the Devils.
The Lightning's leading hitter with 193 kills, McCoy ranks second in the CACC by averaging 3.33 kills per set. Meanwhile, she also ranks second on the team with 146 digs and 19 service aces.
Dempsey leads the CACC by averaging 0.62 service aces per set while contributing a team-high 240 assists and 150 digs.
Currently 17-4 overall and a perfect 9-0 in the CACC, the Wildcats will bring a seven-match win streak into Tuesday's affair against the Lightning. During the seven-match win streak, the Wildcats have lost just four sets.

Kaitlin DiGiacinto (Old Mill H.S./Glen Burnie, Md.) led the Wildcats with a team-high nine kills while also adding 10 digs. Meanwhile, junior middle hitter
Katie Shorter (Broadneck H.S./Pasadena, Md.) added six kills with four total blocks.
Senior outside hitter
Nicole Wiechecki (Ursuline Academy/Wilmington, Del.) leads the Wildcats with 207 kills and 39 service aces. She also ranks fourth in the CACC by averaging 2.84 kills per set. Meanwhile, Shorter leads the CACC with 105 total blocks while junior middle hitter
Brittany Biddle (Concord H.S./Claymont, Del.) ranks second in the CACC with 75 blocks.
The Lightning will be looking to avenge a pair of three-set losses against the Wildcats last year when the two teams square off on Tuesday night. They will also face each other on Oct. 23 at the Jones Center.
After Tuesday's match, the Lightning will open a two-match homestand on Thursday night when they host Chestnut Hill College at the Jones Center in the team's annual "Dig Pink" night at 7 p.m.
