McCoy Records 7th "Double Double" of Season in Loss

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior outside hitter Brittany Olson (Sycamore H.S./Sycamore, Ill.) recorded 10 kills with eight digs as Philadelphia University (19-8, 13-5) earned its eighth win in the last 10 matches, a three-set Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (4-21, 0-17) at the Rams' Gallagher Center on Wednesday evening.

The Rams, who earned their second win over Goldey-Beacom this season, defeated the Lightning by set scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-23.

While Olson led the Rams to the victory, freshman setter Nina Morvin (Cuyahoga Falls H.S./Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) added a “double double” by posting 16 assists and 14 digs while contributing three kills. Junior setter Heather Martin (Conestoga Valley H.S./Leola, Pa.) added 21 assists while senior libero Morgan McCarthy (South Side H.S./Beaver, Pa.) posted a match-high 23 digs.

Sophomore outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) led the Lightning by posting her seventh “double double” of the season with a match-high 14 kills with 11 digs.

Meanwhile, senior setter/opposite Monica Dempsey (Secaucus H.S./Secaucus, N.J.) added a “double double” with 13 assists and 10 digs while freshman setter Jamika Townsend (King's Fork H.S./Suffolk, Va.) contributed 14 assists and 12 digs.

The Lightning will finish their home schedule on Friday night when they host Post University at the Joseph West Jones College Center at 6 p.m. Prior to the match, Dempsey and senior middle hitter Catherine Howard (William Penn H.S./New Castle, Del.) will be honored on the occasion of their final home match.
