Men's Soccer Begins Final Week of Season at Bloomfield

Lightning Trying to Earn 2nd CACC Win of Season

Carlos Bastardo and the Lightning will travel to Bloomfield on Tuesday night.

WILMINGTON, Del.
- Looking to rebound from a tough loss at Nyack on Saturday, the Lightning men's soccer team will continue its season-ending four-match road trip on Tuesday night when Goldey-Beacom visits Bloomfield College for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match against the Deacons.

Opening kick-off between the Lightning and the Deacons is slated for 7 p.m. at Foley Field.

Now 4-11-0 overall and 1-8-0 in the CACC, the Lightning allowed a season-high six goals, including four in the second half, against the Warriors on Saturday afternoon in a 6-0 defeat at Moseley Field. Senior goalkeeper Ignacio Farias (Maracay, Venezuela) made six saves in a losing effort for the Lightning, who were outshot by a 20-9 margin.

Junior midfielder Andre Jank (Campo Grande, Brazil) is the Lightning's leading scorer with three goals and an assist while junior forward Thatcher Howell (Salesianum H.S./Wilmington, Del.) has contributed two goals and two assists.

Meanwhile, Farias has started the last 13 matches for the Lightning and has posted a 3.24 goals against average along with a .634 save percentage. He also ranks second in the CACC with 71 saves.

With a 6-5-2 overall record, Bloomfield will enter Tuesday's match in a tie for sixth place in the CACC standings with a 4-3-2 conference mark. The Deacons, who have played just four home matches this season, have struggled over the last five matches with just one victory, a 1-0 win over Concordia on Oct. 16.

The Deacons will be looking to rebound after a 1-0 loss against Philadelphia University on Saturday night at Foley Field. Sophomore goalkeeper Kieran Moran (Cardinal Spellman H.S./Bronx, N.Y.) made two saves in a losing effort for the Deacons, who outshot the Rams by a 12-6 margin.

Junior forward Kemar Richards (Kingston, Jamaica) has tallied seven of the Deacons' 12 goals this season while senior midfielder Diego Mayanga (Martin Luther King H.S./Queens, N.Y.) has contributed a pair of markers. Meanwhile, Moran has played every minute for the Deacons this season, recording a 0.87 goals against average while stopping 83.3 per cent of the shots he has faced, which ranks second in the CACC.

After Tuesday's match at Bloomfield, the Lightning will travel to Bloomsburg on Thursday night for a non-conference match against the Huskies.
