PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior
Kelly Dennis (Mount Notre Dame H.S./Cincinnati, Ohio) overcame a first set deficit to earn a three-set victory at number two singles as third-seeded Chestnut Hill College (11-3) advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Tennis Championship match with a 5-4 victory over second-seeded Goldey-Beacom College (11-3) at the Chestnut Hill College Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins, who avenged an 8-1 loss against the Lightning in the regular season, will face three-time defending CACC champion Concordia in the CACC title match on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The CACC champion will earn an automatic berth into the 2013 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship.
After losing the first set by a 6-0 margin against junior
Rocio Cabanillas Moreno (Sevilla, Spain), Dennis rallied by posting a 6-4 victory in the second set before giving Chestnut Hill the victory with a 6-4 triumph in the third set, spoiling the Lightning's comeback.
