Playing their third match in five days, the Lightning will be looking to snap a two-match losing streak when they host the Raiders on Wednesday. After dropping a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference verdict against Concordia at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon, the Lightning allowed a season-high five goals, including four in the second half, on Monday night in a 5-0 loss at Chestnut Hill.
A key to the Lightning's success this year has been scoring goals. All six of the team's goals have been scored in the team's two victories, but they have not scored a goal in any of their losses.
Junior forward
Thatcher Howell (Salesianum H.S./Wilmington, Del.) is the Lightning's leading scorer with a goal and two assists while senior defender
Mariano Olcese (Lima, Peru) has contributed a goal with an assist.
Senior goalkeeper
Ignacio Farias (Maracay, Venezuela) has started the last seven games for the Lightning, posting a 2.73 goals against average while stopping 70.0 per cent of the shots he has faced. Entering Wednesday's match against the Raiders, Farias needs three saves to become the Lightning's all-time leader in saves.
Currently 1-6-2 overall and 0-3-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, the Raiders will also be trying to snap a losing streak when they face Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday. After a 2-1 setback at Slippery Rock on Saturday, the Raiders have dropped three straight matches and have been outscored by a 7-2 margin in those contests.
The Raiders' offense has been widely distributed this year as 10 different players have scored a goal and 13 different players have recorded a point. Senior defender
Sam Talbot (Halifax, England) leads the Raiders with three goals and three assists while freshman
Derek Adams (Warwick H.S./Lititz, Pa.) and junior forward
Jonathan DeNicola (Mechanicsburg H.S./Mechanicsburg, Pa.) have each contributed a goal with an assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Kevin Hollasch (Liberty H.S./Marriottsville, Md.) has started six games for the Raiders this season, posting a 1.92 goals against average with a .708 save percentage.
The Lightning will be looking to avenge last year's 3-2 loss against Shippensburg as the Raiders overcame an early 1-0 deficit to score three unanswered goals en route to the victory.
After Wednesday's affair, the Lightning will return to their CACC schedule by visiting Post University on Saturday afternoon for a 3 p.m. match against the Eagles.
