WILMINGTON, Del. – Senior outside hitter
Susan McDonough (Saline H.S./Saline, Mich.) recorded a match-high 15 kills and added 10 digs to lead Caldwell College (16-9, 9-2) to its seventh straight win, a three-set Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (4-15, 0-11) to spoil the Lightning's Homecoming at the Joseph West Jones College Center on Saturday afternoon.
Led by McDonough, the Cougars posted the win by set scores of 25-18, 25-20 and 25-16 while handing Goldey-Beacom its 12th consecutive loss.
McDonough, who also hit .481 against the Lightning, posted her 17th “double double” to lead Caldwell to the victory. The CACC leader with 264 kills this season, McDonough has recorded a “double double” in each of her last six matches.
Meanwhile, freshman outside hitter
Rachel DiLeonardo (Mount Notre Dame H.S./West Chester, Ohio) added eight kills and five digs while junior setter
Lisa Roth (Williams Field H.S./Gilbert, Ariz.) nearly missed a “double double” with 37 assists and nine digs.
Sophomore libero
Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota H.S./Bogota, N.J.), who leads the CACC in digs, posted 11 digs in the victory.
Sophomore outside hitter
Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) led the Lightning by posting 12 kills and seven digs while sophomore defensive specialist
Niki Receveur (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) added a match-high 13 digs.
Senior setter/opposite
Monica Dempsey (Secaucus H.S./Secaucus, N.J.) nearly recorded a “double double” with 14 assists and nine digs while adding six kills.
The Lightning will begin a stretch of four matches in five days on Tuesday night when they travel to Lincoln University for a non-conference match against the Lions at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, Caldwell will return home to face Post University in a CACC match on Wednesday night.
