BEAR, Del. – Senior
Elizabeth Williams (A.I. duPont H.S./Wilmington, Del.) earned 64th place to lead the Goldey-Beacom College women's cross country team to a seventh place team finish at the University of Delaware Blue and Gold Meet at Lums Pond State Park on Friday afternoon.
Led by Williams, the Lightning scored 213 points to earn seventh place while the host Blue hens won the team title by placing its top five runners in the top ten to score 30 points. The University of Maryland followed in second place with 57 points.
While Williams crossed the finish line in a time of 27:53, senior
Felicia Justice (Clearfield H.S./West Point, Utah) followed in 66th place after a time of 29:25.
Meanwhile, freshman
Sarah Grzybowski (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) earned 67th place with a time of 29:27 while senior
Alyssa Murray (Hodgson Vo-Tech H.S./Townsend, Del.) completed the course in a time of 30:39 to earn 69th place.
Freshmen
Samia Blassengale (Delcastle H.S./Newark, Del.) and
Leshae Lee (Joppatowne H.S./Edgewood, Md.) earned 71st and 72nd places, respectively, while junior
Tigan Frisby (Mount Pleasant H.S./Claymont, Del.) finished in 73rd place with a time of 33:50.
The Lightning will be idle until Sunday, Oct. 21 when they compete at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Meet.
