PHILADELPHIA, Pa.
– Senior forward Matt Bik (Sacred Heart H.S./Vineland, N.J.) scored a goal and added an assist as Goldey-Beacom College (3-9-0, 1-7-0) snapped a four-match losing streak by earning its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win of the season, a 2-1 victory over Holy Family University (6-5-2, 3-3-1) at Tiger Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lightning, who had been held to just two goals during the four-match losing streak, posted multiple goals for the first time since a 4-0 victory over Washington Adventist on Sept. 25. Meanwhile, Holy Family lost for just the second time in its last seven matches.

Bik gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute when he scored his first goal of the season past senior goalkeeper Kelly Diaz (Palisades Park H.S./Palisades Park, N.J.).

The Lightning upped the advantage to 2-0 just over 11 minutes into the second half when junior forward Thatcher Howell (Salesianum H.S./Wilmington, Del.) took a pass from Bik and scored his second goal of the season on a shot to the left side of the goal.

But, the Tigers answered in the 72nd minute when freshman forward Alah Mbriwa (Philmont Christian Academy/Abington, Pa.) ended the Lightning's shutout bid by scoring the first goal of his college career, an unassisted marker past senior goalkeeper Ignacio Farias (Maracay, Venezuela).

From there, Farias made three of his four saves to hold off the Tigers for the victory.

While Bik led the Lightning to the victory, Farias contributed four saves as the Lightning were outshot by a 17-8 margin.

Diaz, who started for the 12th time in 13 matches this year for the Tigers, made one save in the first half while sophomore goalkeeper Nick Aglira (Archbishop Wood H.S./Churchville, Pa.) played the second half and did not record a save.

The Lightning will return to Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field on Saturday to face Caldwell College in the team's annual Homecoming match at 2 p.m.
