Women's Cross Country Third at Dukes Invitational

Junior Liz Williams becomes first GBC women's runner to win individual championship

VINELAND, N.J. - Junior Elizabeth Williams became the first female runner at Goldey-Beacom College to ever win an individual championship at a cross country invitational as she led the Lightning to a third-place finish at the Dukes Invitational hosted by Cumberland County College.

Williams time of 22:01 beat her career personal record by 30 seconds and was good for first in the overall individual field.

Junior Alyssa Murray was the next Lightning finisher, coming in at 10th place with a time of 25:20. Sophomore Symone Stewart followed at 26:40 to take 11th place overall.

Sophomore Tigan Frisby (29:30) and junior newcomer Jessica Heger (36:30) also finished the race for the Lightning to help them qualify for third place.
