Volleyball Shut Out at Holy Family, 3-0

PHILADELPHIA - The Goldey-Beacom College volleyball team lost in straight sets, 25-19, 25-19, 25-18 at the Campus Center Thurs. night against the top team in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division, Holy Family. The loss drops the Lightning to 6-8 in league play, which keeps them tied with idle Chestnut Hill for fourth place in the division standings and percentage points ahead of fifth-place Georgian Court (6-9).

Freshman outside hitter Kadi McCoy and senior middle hitter Rebecca Stoffer combined for 11 kills to lead the Lightning offensively, with junior setter Monica Dempsey recording 11 assists. Senior Roni Shaner had a team-high 11 digs and freshman libero Niki Receveur registered 10 digs to reach the 300 milestone for the season.

The Lightning (12-12 overall) hit just .101 as a team with 15 kills and eight errors on 69 attempts. They also committed an uncharacteristic seven return errors and eight ball-handling errors. Meanwhile, HFU hit .260 for the night with just one return error and three ball-handling errors. The Tigers improved to 17-10 overall and 14-1 in the league with the win. They were led by Cara Przbylowicz's match-high 10 kills and Jillian Keeve's nine kills with a .467 hitting percentage. Keeve also had 14 assists and five digs.

GBC goes on the road Saturday to take on the CACC North Division's top team, Caldwell at 1 p.m.
