Women's Tennis Blanks Post, 9-0

PIKE CREEK, Del. - The Goldey-Beacom College women's tennis team improved to 5-1 on the season with a 9-0 win over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foe, Post University on Tues. afternoon at Del Castle Tennis Center.

The Lightning swept all six singles matches and all three doubles matches for their third shutout win of the season.

Freshman Stephanie Puentes, the reigning CACC Rookie of the Week, improved to 6-0 on the season with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Post's Elizabeth Sprenger. Junior Blanca Sancho, freshman Filipa Coreia, senior Marina Sales, junior Melanie Bonomo and freshman Anastasia Melnikova all won, 6-0, 6-0, respectively at the No. 2-6 singles spots. All three doubles teams earned 8-0 wins as well.

Next up for the Lightning is the highly anticipated match-up with the 11-2 (6-1 CACC) Griffins of Chestnut Hill College. The Griffins and Lightning were two of three teams that were tied for second place in the CACC coaches' pre-season poll voting, and both enter Thurs. afternoon's match with just one loss in league play.
