PHILADELPHIA – The Goldey-Beacom College women's tennis team used wins at second and third doubles and the third through sixth singles to claim a 6-3 victory over Holy Family University on Wed. afternoon and remain unbeaten on the season and in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
The Lightning (4-0, 3-0 CACC) have now won the last three meetings between these two CACC powers. The Tigers, who played in the NCAA East Regional Tournament alongside the Lightning last year, fell to 3-1 on the season with the loss.
In doubles action, Holy Family's Jin Querubin and Juliana Victoria claimed an 8-0 victory over junior Marina Sales and freshman Marie-Louise Klein (2-2) at first doubles. But the Lightning would earn two doubles points by winning the second and third doubles matches. The Lightning are 10-2 in doubles play as a team on the year.
Sophomore Blanca Sancho and freshman Gabriela Chaves defeated Chelsea Brown and Maja Pantelic, 8-6 at the No. 2 spot and sophomore Vanessa Leon and freshman Laura Cure defeated Katie Cook and Linda Piecyk, 8-1 at No. 3. Both of those Lightning pairs improved to 4-0 on the season. 
Victoria and Querubin each earned singles victories for HFU at the No. 1 and 2 spots, respectively, but Sales, sophomore Melanie Bonomo, Cure and Chaves each recorded victories to close out the match with a 6-3 winning verdict.
Bonomo and Cure are unbeaten through four matches and Chaves improved to 3-0. As a team, GBC is 18-6 in singles play for the season.
