WILMINGTON, Del. – The No. 6 ranked Goldey-Beacom College Lightning women's tennis team was outmatched, 9-0 on Sat. afternoon as they faced the No. 1 team in the region and No. 37 ranked team in the nation, Queens College (N.Y.).
The closest match of the day was at No. 1 doubles, where GBC freshmen Marina Sales and Blanca Sancho gave Somadi Druker and Erika Goldsmith of Queens a run for their money before bowing out, 8-5. QC went on to win all three doubles matches and all six singles matches.
The Lightning fell to 13-4 for the 2009-10 season and 0-2 in Spring play. They will await word on the final NCAA Championship selections on Apr. 28. The win improved Queens College to 17-2 on the season.
