EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Four Goldey-Beacom College women's cross country runners competed in the Nevins Invitational 5K hosted by East Stroudsburg University on Sat. morning.

Sophomore Liz Williams was tops for GBC, who did not have the five necessary runners to qualify for a team score. Williams finished 45th with a time of 22:33. With that time, Williams is now the fourth-fastest 5K runner in school history as she surpassed Jessica Kaszeta ('07), who once ran a 22:38.

Next was sophomore Alyssa Murray who crossed the line at 24:49 (61st), followed by her sister, senior Brittney Murray at 25:19 (65th). Alyssa's time made her the school's 15th fastest 5K runner, as she surpassed her sister Brittney. Meanwhile, Brittney's time today was a season personal record as she beat her best time this year by 1:04.

Freshman Tigan Frisby rounded out the Lightning finishers with a time of 27:23 to take 74th. She too had a season personal record, beating her best time by an astounding 3:09.

The Lightning were without their No. 2 runner, freshman Symone Stewart, due to a groin injury. Based on what he saw today, head coach Brian Conley is excited about what this team could do in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships meet on Nov. 7.

“With what Alyssa and Brittney showed me today, and with Tigan getting closer and closer to the pack, I think we can really turn some heads at the conference meet when we hopefully have Symone back,” Conley said.

GBC will look to better their 11th place finish out of 14 teams last season as they travel to Philadelphia for the CACC Championships two weeks from today.
