PHILADELPHIA – Senior Angel Rodriguez scored in the opening minutes, but Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foe Philadelphia University responded with four unanswered goals as visiting Goldey-Beacom fell 4-1 on Tues. afternoon.

The Lightning, who lost their second straight game, dipped below .500 at 3-4 (1-2 CACC) as Phiadelphia U. improved to 6-1 and stayed unbeaten in the CACC at 4-0.

Junior Andrew Cairns got the start in goal for GBC. He made 14 saves and allowed four goals in 90 minutes of work. PU goalkeeper Charles Custer made six saves and allowed one goal.

The Rams outshot the Lightning 24-14 and took two corner kicks to GBC's one.

After Rodriguez scored what was his team-leading eighth goal of the season, PU's Ian Martin scored three consecutive goals for the Rams. The first came just after the 11-minute mark off an assist from Emmanuel Asangmbeng. But that would be it for the first half, as the two teams went into halftime, tied 1-1.

The two teams went scoreless for nearly 20 minutes to start the second half, but Martin scored again off an assist from Ryan Purnell. Those two would hook up again at the 72-minute mark when Purnell's shot went off the post and Martin put in the rebound.

With a little over eight minutes to play, Purnell scored off an assist from Martin, putting the game away at 4-1.

The Lightning are back in action on Sat. at 8 p.m. as they visit CACC opponent, Felician College in the second game of a double-header, immediately following the women's game.
