BRONX, N.Y. – The Goldey-Beacom College women's cross country team finished eighth in a field of 14 teams at the Baruch 6K Invitational at Van Cortland Park. The Lightning finished with a team score of 195 points, totaled from the team's first five runners.
The host, Baruch College won the meet with 72, followed by Brooklyn (83), York (88), Hunter (101) and FDU-Florham (128) to round out the top-5. John Jay (174) and SUNY-Maritime (176) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, followed by GBC.
Queensborough, Lehman, Yeshiva, and City Tech rounded out the top-12 as St. Elizabeth and Queens did not score as a team.
Freshman Liz Williams again led the way for GBC with a time of 30:26, good for 11th overall in a field of 95.
Junior Brittney Murray was next for the Lightning, coming in 39th place with a time of 34:38. She was followed by her sister, freshman Alyssa Murray, who finished 48th with a time of 35:09.
Sophomore Marie Fountain then finished 55th with a time of 36:26, followed shortly thereafter by freshman Kaydean Hayden, who came in 57th at 37:06.
Junior Nitasia Dupree (75th, 41:53), senior Myishea Hales (77th, 42:27) and junior Jessica Cato (88th, 44:00) all finished the race for the Lightning as well.
Goldey-Beacom's next meet is at Steven's Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. on Sept. 25.
