Takoma Park, MD – Ellegood, White and Esquilin lead charge in dominating win over Columbia Union

The Lightning men's basketball team continued their late season push last night, at non-conference opponent Columbia Union College.  The Lightning jumped out quick against the Pioneers, scoring the first eight points of the game.  Playing good offense and defending well, the Lightning controlled the tempo of the game in the first half, and headed into intermission with a dominating lead over the Pioneers (46-27).

The second half was a mirror image of the first, as the Lightning controlled both ends of the floor, and came away with a convincing 86-55 win over Columbia Union College.  With the win, the Lightning improved to 10-13 overall, and 5-7 in the CACC.

Sophomore Azeez Ellegood continued scoring big with 20 points, 6 steals and 3 assists.  Junior Kyle White filled the stat line with 18 points, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 4 rebounds, while junior Troy Esquilin hit a double-double, with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The Lightning will next play host to Felician College this Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 3:00pm.
