Biography
With the Lightning: Second-year transfer player from Monroe College…long, physical player at 6-7…effective scorer and rebounder, and a strong shot blocker from his forward position…should see increasing minutes in his senior season.
2008-09 Season: Appeared in 26 games and started 12 in his first season for the Lightning…averaged 11.1 minutes per game off the bench…scored 87 points (3.3 ppg) and grabbed 87 rebounds (3.3 rpg)…blocked 18 shots and had 12 steals…recorded double-doubles against Columbia Union (2/12) with 12 points and a season-high 13 rebounds, and against Post University (2/21) with a season-high 16 points and 11 rebounds.
2006-07 Season (Monroe College): Played in 27 games and started nine…scored 211 points (7.8 ppg) and grabbed 131 rebounds (4.85 rpg)…had nine assists, 21 blocks and 19 steals.
2005-06 Season (Monroe College): Played in four games…scored 24 points (3.8 ppg)…had two blocks and one steal.
High School: Standout basketball player at Redirection High School…led team to PSAI championship and 16-2 overall record…won the Iron Man Award and most valuable player award.
Personal: Troy “T” Esquilin…came to GBC because he felt it was the perfect place for him…chose to play Division II athletics because he wanted to help put Lightning basketball on the map…earned an Associate's degree in business management from Monroe College...enjoys playing basketball and baseball, hanging out with his family and writing…describes himself as “cool.”
