Philadelphia, PA – Ellegood leads Lightning in big win over the Devils.

The Lightning tipped-off against the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia Devils last night in a CACC showdown.  The Lightning dominated the start of the game and jumped to a 14-2 lead, only to see the host storm back to narrow the margin to 28-24 at intermission.   

In the second half, the Lightning extended their lead behind a 9-3 run, and never looked back.  The Lightning controlled the tempo in the second half behind sophomore Azeez Ellegood's team-high 25 points, and out-scored the Devils 42-25 in the half.  With the 70-49 win, the Lightning extends their winning streak to three, and improves their record to 9-13, 5-7 in the CACC. 

Sophomore Sam McDuffie added 9 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists, while junior Troy Esquilin supplied 8 rebounds and 2 big blocks.

The Lightning will travel to Columbia Union College this Thursday, February 12, 2009 for an 8:00pm game.
