GBC Volleyball Blanked by Nyack, 3-0

NYACK, N.Y. – The Goldey-Beacom College volleyball team played competitively in all three sets, but were outlasted in each one as they suffered a 3-0 shutout road loss to Nyack College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play Sat. afternoon.

The Lightning (8-19, 3-14 CACC) lost the match 25-22, 25-23, 25-19, as the Warriors improved to 9-7 overall and 8-6 in conference play.

Freshman Monica Dempsey led the Lightning with seven kills, nine assists and eight digs. Sophomore Roni Shaner, who had a team-high hitting percentage at .286, also pitched in with seven kills, eight assists and five digs. Dempsey and Shaner also had three and two service aces, respectively.

Megan Metcalf and Brianne Cercone led the Warrior attack in the win, with Metcalf tallying 11 kills and Cercone registering 10.  Amelia Moore paved the way for the offense in the victory, racking up 29 assists. 

GBC is back in action on Thurs. night at 7 p.m. as the Lightning visit CACC power Georgian Court in Lakewood, N.J.
