NEW CASTLE, Del. – Freshman Monica Dempsey had her ninth double-double of the season and graduate senior Christine Hudock had a game-high 25 digs, but the Lightning were shut out a third straight time on Thurs. night at rival Wilmington University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
GBC (8-18, 3-13 CACC) lost the match in straight sets, 25-19, 25-12, 25-9 as Wilmington completed the season sweep of the Lightning and improved to 11-13 overall and 7-7 in league play.
Sophomore Roni Shaner had six kills and 11 digs, Dempsey added four kills, 11 assists and 21 digs, and Hudock had a match-high 25 digs.
Michelle Boyd paced the Wildcat attack, as she recorded a match-high 11 kills and seven digs. Meghan Frick added seven kills and 22 digs, while libero Brittany O'Neill posted 21 digs. Brittani Leathern had eight kills and four blocks, while Shannon Rumple chipped in with 33 assists and 10 digs.
GBC continues its road swing with a visit to CACC foe Nyack College on Sat. at 1 p.m.
