Wilmington, DE – Alford earns unconventional double-double as Lightning fall to Bloomfield
Sophomore Arielle Alford earned an unconventional double-double in last night's CACC match-up against Bloomfield College, as she recorded 10 rebounds and 12 blocks for the game.
The Lightning started off struggling to maintain possession, and watched Deacons of Bloomfield College take the early lead. The Lightning continued to struggle throughout the first half, and headed into the locker room down 38-16.
The Deacons stretched their lead in the 2nd half, but that was only temporary. The Lightning started to find their groove on the offensive end, and outscored the Deacons in the second half 26-22, but that was not enough to cut the lead the Deacons built up. The Lightning fell to the Deacons 60-42.
Janae Weldon led the Lightning in points with 13, while Evebonee Acosta added 12 of her own. Arielle Alford was the queen of the boards, with 10 rebounds and 12 blocked shots.
The Lightning will next travel to Philadelphia University on Thursday, January 22, 2009 for a 6:00pm game.
