Bronxville, NY – Men's Soccer just misses in season opener
The Goldey-Beacom College Men's Soccer team opened up their season against Concordia College in New York on September 5th. The Lightning took the field for the first time this season and at 20:20 into the game the Lightning were the first to score. The goal came from Nick Hofman, his first goal of the season. With play continuing both teams split the offensive movements. Concordia was the next to strike and to tie the game up at 1 goal apiece. With the first half over the Lightning were tied with Concordia at 1.
The second half started and in less than ten minutes Concordia scored their second goal and took the lead. The rest of the game was a back and forth battle of the ball. The Lightning unfortunately could not find room to score again and fell to Concordia 2-1.
The Lightning were led by Kwame Appiah with 1 goal, while goalkeeper Garret Shuler record 2 saves. The Lightning will host Columbia Union on Monday, September 8, 2008 at 5:00pm.
