Lightning Volleyball drops tough match to Wilmington

Wilmington, DE – Lightning Volleyball drops tough match to Wilmington

 

The Lightning volleyball team traveled to cross-town rival Wilmington University last Thursday for a CACC match.  The first set was competitive until Wilmington surged to a five-point lead half way through the opening set.  The Lightning climbed back into the match, behind the service game of Lauren Witzke, but the Wildcats went on a 14-4 run and took the first set 25-14. 

 

The Lightning struggled in the second set against the serve of Wilmington and fell 25-13. 

 

Despite strong third set performances from Chalea Johnson, Roni Shaner and Christine Hudock the Lightning dropped the deciding set 25-20.

 

Christine Hudock led the Lightning with 7 kills, 23 digs, and 1 service ace. 

The team travels to Waterbury, CT on Saturday November 1st for a tri-match against host Post University and St. Anselm's College.
