Lightning Volleyball continues to play well but falls to cross town rival

Box score

The Lightning Volleyball hosted their cross-town rivals the Wilmington University Wildcats.  The Lightning struggled in the first set against the Wildcat serve and dropped the first set 25-10.

The Lightning quickly went down in the second set 10-4, but found their game and climbed back into contention for the set.  The Lightning pushed their way back with the service help of Chantal Pierre and was able to tie the game up at 24 saving three set points.  The Lightning unfortunately lost the next two points, and dropped the second set 27-25.

With the start of the third set, the Lightning was down again.  However, a strong service-game from AJ Hicks helped the Lightning climb back into the set, but the Wildcats were too strong and ultimately won the third set 25-16, and the match 3-0.

The Lightning were led by Christine Hudock with 18 digs, Roni Shaner with 19 assists and 16 digs, Chantal Pierre with 7 kills and 2 block and Kellyn Nolan with 6 kills, 7 digs, and 2 blocks.

The Lightning will next play host to Nyack College on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 1:00pm.
