Philadelphia, PA – Women's Tennis drops CACC Semifinals to Holy Family

The #3 seeded Lightning women's tennis team traveled to #2 seeded, and defending CACC Champion, Holy Family University for their first CACC conference semi final match.

The Lightning started out the match with the doubles round.  Holy Family quickly defeated the Lightning in #2 and #3 doubles.  With the #1 doubles match still in play both teams looked onward and cheered for their teammates.  With the score at 7-4 in Holy Family's favor, it would look like the Lightning would not come back into the match.  However, with the break of Holy Family's serve and the service game of Luisiana Souto, the Lightning climbed back into the match and were only down by one game.  The Lightning unfortunately could not break Holy Family's serve again and were now down 3-0 in the match.

The singles started shortly after and Holy Family needed only two more wins to move on the CACC Finals.  The Lightning fought hard against their opponents but unfortunately dropped two of their singles matches.  With Holy Family, winning their required five matches play was called.

Holy Family defeated the Lightning 5-0 and moved on to the CACC Finals against Philadelphia University.

The Lightning will next send Luisiana Souto and Luciana Pereira to the CACC Singles and Doubles tournament this weekend at Chestnut Hill College.

The Lightning will finishes out their season at Cheyney University on October 24, 2008 at 4:00pm
