Wilmington, DE – Men's Soccer misses against Bloomfield College

The Goldey-Beacom College men's soccer team hosted Bloomfield College for their homecoming game.  The Deacons entered the game with a record of 8-3 overall, and 6-0 in the CACC.

The first half was extremely competitive, as both teams created opportunities to score.  The Lightning's best chance came when Erlin Rodezno broke free on a break-a-way.  As Rodezno pushed the ball past the Bloomfield goalkeeper, he appeared to be taken down.  However, no foul was called, the teams ended the half scoreless.

Five minutes into the second half, Bloomfield's Evans Tageo headed home a cross from Triston Sommerville.  The goal proved to be all that the Deacons needed to keep their CACC record unblemished.

In addition to winning the game, Bloomfield held a statistical advantage as they outshot the Lightning 14-8 for the game, and held a 5-2 advantage in corner-kicks.  GBC goalkeeper Garret Shuler recorded 3 saves in the loss.

The team will travel to Wilmington University for the CACC game on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 3:30pm.  The game will be played at the Kirkwood Soccer Club, in New Castle, DE.
