Mike Torres is in his fourth year as Goldey-Beacom's Assistant Director of Athletics/Compliance & Operations.

He serves as the primary person regarding student-athlete eligibility, compliance with NCAA and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference activity, athletic business operations and helping Director of Athletics Jeremy Benoit with the day-to-day running of the department.  Torres also served as the College's site manager when the school hosted regionals in the 2023 NCAA  Tournament for baseball and the 2025 NCAA Tournament for softball.

Torres arrived after serving since 2016 as the Athletic Director/Behavior Interventionist for Las Americas Aspira Academy High School in Newark, DE.  He helped support students in their behavioral management, oversaw the school’s athletics programs, worked with the head coaches in preparation of their specific season and checked on the compliance status of all student-athletes.

His second stint in Pike Creek comes after he spent the first two seasons of the Lightning’s baseball program (2017-18) as an assistant coach.  His guidance helped the squad win the 2017 CACC Team Sportsmanship Award, compete in the 2018 CACC Tournament and build the foundation that led to the 2021 unit playing in the NCAA Tournament after winning the CACC South Division.

This came before Torres was head baseball coach at Appoquinimink High School the next four years.  He led the Jaguars to the 2019 Delaware state title with an 18-0 record and a berth in the 2021 and 2022 state final.

Torres pitched two seasons (2015-16) for league-rival Wilmington (DE), earning two victories and tossing 49 1/3 innings with 39 strikeouts.  He made a team-best 18 appearances in 2016 with 24 strikeouts.  Torres was on the bump 19 times in 2015, a year which the Wildcats won both the CACC and NCAA East Region title to advance to the College World Series.

The Middletown, DE native also pitched in 2012 with Salem Community College and 2013 with Harford Community College.  Torres recorded 47 strikeouts over 54 2/3 innings with Salem and 63 strikeouts over 61 innings with Harford.

Torres also was an intern in the Athletics Department both with Wilmington and Harford.

Torres graduated Wilmington University in 2016 with a degree in Sport Management and two years later earned his Master’s from Wilmington in Sport Management.
