Matt Walker took over in October 2025 as Goldey-Beacom's new Strength & Conditioning Coach.

“Matt will be a tremendous addition to our Sports Medicine staff at GBC,” Director of Athletics Jeremy Benoit said. “He brings a wealth of experience from various competitive levels and institutions that will complement our existing staff very well.  With Matt being a former collegiate student-athlete, I’m confident he will be able to relate to our students and put them in a position to be as competitive as they can be while also avoiding injuries.”

Walker served the last two years as the strength & conditioning coach at Friends Central in Wynnewood, PA.  He oversaw the training for 11 programs on the middle and high school levels, working with coaches on promoting wellness and developing an after-school program for all athletes.

He served the two years prior at Haddonfield Memorial High School, performing the same duties for eight teams and roughly 225 athletes.  Multiple teams he helped develop a culture of discipline, accountability and peak performance ended up winning state championships.

Walker from 2016-21 was the Director of Strength & Conditioning at Coppin State University, overseeing 250 athletes and reducing soft-tissue injuries by 20 percent through preventative training.  He was the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at Arcadia University from 2014-16 and a Strength & Conditioning intern at Villanova University from 2012-13.

Walker also has been a personal trainer for various organizations, a sports performance coach and both a history teacher and football coach at Paul VI High School in New Jersey.

Walker graduated from Wesley College in 2008 with a B.A. in Secondary Education & History before earning his Master’s in Human Movement Science from Concordia University (IL) in 2016.

The Strength and Conditioning Coach position at GBC is part of the College’s 10-year relationship with NovaCare Rehabilitation. This partnership provides two athletic trainers, a strength and conditioning coach and a physical therapist to work in concert with the College’s team physician to ensure a holistic care plan for its student-athletes.
