Bernard Flowers

Bernard Flowers is in his fourth full season as head coach for Goldey-Beacom’s women’s tennis program.
 
Flowers since October 2019 has served as the Director of Tennis Operations at Delcastle Tennis Center, the home court of Goldey-Beacom.  He manages reports, payroll and scheduling at the center, increased the adult program’s attendance from 50 to over 150, coaches USTA teams at the adult and junior levels, and created tiered programming to meet the clients developmental needs.
 
Flowers from 2013-19 was the director of adult tennis at the Tennis Club of Hastings in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.  He grew the participation levels both within the club and outside, led the club in many events that included junior programs and leagues, and provided lessons to adults and juniors.
 
He also has coordinated practices and matches for MITL and USTA teams, scheduled matches for both organizations, led his USTA teams to the 2018 and 2019 Eastern Sectional championships and coached both the men’s and women’s 2018 units to the 40 and over USTA national championship.
 
He also was the JV coach at Riverdale County Day School, leading the 2010 team to a 10-1 record and the Ivy League championship.
 
Flowers has volunteered with Guiding Eyes for the Blind and taught weekly classes for the handicapped at Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, NY.
 
Flowers graduated from John Jay College with a B.A. in Criminal Justice.
