Taylor Leonard

After a highly successful run as a player for Goldey-Beacom women’s basketball team, Taylor Leonard is in her second season as an assistant coach.

Leonard provided a great deal to the program and her leadership, helped by her role as team captain last season, made her a perfect fit for this position.  She graduated fourth in school history with 243 assists and fourth with 103 three-pointers.

“Taylor was an exemplary student-athlete for the women’s basketball program throughout her career at Goldey-Beacom College,” head coach Bethann Burke said.  “She has a bright future ahead of her and I am very excited to add her to our coaching staff.”

Leonard played two games during the 2010-11 season before succumbing to injury.  Still, she was part of the squad that went on to clinch the program’s first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship and first NCAA Tournament berth.  Leonard battled from that to play 112 more games and start 104, including 34.8 minutes per game with 30 starts in 2013-14.

During that 2013-14 campaign, she shot 34 percent from three-point range and had over three assists per game in pacing the Lightning to the ECAC Tournament final.  The victories over Merrimack in the quarterfinals and Caldwell in the semifinals were the squad’s first two postseason triumphs as an NCAA program.

The 2014-15 campaign saw Leonard start all 29 contests, shooting 36 percent from the field and leading Goldey-Beacom to the CACC Tournament.  The Lightning won 13 of their last 23 games on the season and clinched a league-tournament berth for a team-record sixth straight year.

Leonard graduated in 2014 with a degree in Sport Management.
