Michael Barrow

Michael Barrow is in his eighth year as Goldey-Beacom’s golf coach.

Barrow has accomplished a great deal in his first seven seasons.  He led the Lightning to a trio of fourth-place finishes at the CACC Championship and in 2012-13 had three compete at the NCAA Regional Championships.

That 2012-13 campaign saw Patrick McRae named All-CACC and the College’s Male Athlete of the Year.  Barrow led GBC to four consecutive tournament wins.

GBC in 2013-14 saw Garrett Brown advance to the NCAA Regionals and had both Brown and McRae get back to the regionals the following year.

The 2014-15 campaign also was highlighted by McRae becoming the school's first CoSIDA Academic All-America, earning third-team honors in the at-large category.

The Lightning have won seven tournament crowns during Barrow’s time.

Barrow played four years at the University of Delaware from 2006-10 and captained the team his senior season. That season, he averaged 77.85 in 26 rounds with a season-low score of 70 and helped lead UD to a sixth-place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament.  Also, heading into his senior season, Barrow won the Newark Country Club title in July 2009.

A Newark, DE native, Barrow earned his degree in Leadership at the University of Delaware and also worked as a Pro Shop Assistant at the Newark Country Club.

Barrow has been a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America since the 2012-13 season.  He also is a voter in the Division II Top 25 Poll and is a member of both the All-America and All-Region Committees.

His past work includes internships with the International Junior Golf Tour in Hilton Head Island, SC and the Tiger Woods Foundation’s Quicken Loans National (previously AT&T National) outside of Philadelphia.

Barrow presently is a commercial insurance specialist at Insurance Associates Inc. in Newark.  He also is on the Board of Directors at the Newark Country Club since January 2014, is a Lifelong Member of the club and is on the Board of Directors of The First Tee of Delaware in Wilmington since July 2014.

Barrow married his wife, Tara, on August 29, 2014.
