Stephanie Taylor

Stephanie Taylor, who has enjoyed a great deal of success in cross country as both a student-athlete and a coach, has been hired by Goldey-Beacom College as its new men's and women's cross country coach.

Taylor returns after serving as an assistant coach during the 2013 campaign.  That season saw the Lightning's men's squad have two picks on the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Team, a fourth-place finish at the league championship and a 16th-place showing at the NCAA East Regional.

The women's squad ended that season 11th in the CACC and her work helped the squad get back on track to return to the NCAA Regional the following year.

Taylor assisted with Goldey-Beacom's training schedule, recruiting, workouts, weight-room session, meet organization and financial reports for the squads.

Taylor replaces Brian Conley, who served nine seasons as head coach before his passing April 21.  Conley between the two squads amassed six all-conference honorees, nine appearances at the NCAA Regionals and the 2014 CACC Men's Rookie of the Year in Chandler Brooks.

"I am thrilled to have Stephanie return to the cross country programs as our head coach," Goldey-Beacom Director of Athletics Chuck Hammond said.  "Stephanie played a vital role here in helping both teams succeed as an assistant coach, she has a great work ethic, has excelled everywhere she has been and I am excited to have her begin in this new role.  Brian did a tremendous job building the programs and I know Stephanie will do a great job carrying on this legacy."

Taylor also served as an assistant coach in 2014 at The Tatnall School.  She was responsible for assisting with the training schedule, workouts and organization of the meets.

Taylor competed at Coastal Carolina, where she was awarded Provost and Middletown Chamber of Commerce Scholarships.  She also made the Dean's List and the Big South Conference Presidential Honor Roll.

She also has served as an organizer for the Strides for Autism Speaks 5k Run and a volunteer for the Myrtle Beach and Delaware Marathons.  Taylor presently is a medical assistant for Glasgow Medical Aid Unit and she also has served as a grant coordinator for employee wellness at the University of Delaware.

Taylor graduated Coastal Carolina in three years with Honors, receiving a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science.
