Biography

With the Lightning: Dynamic offensive player…can take a game over with her scoring and passing skills…quick hands and feet on defense enables her to get a lot of steals…very active player, grabs a lot of loose ball rebounds…should have an increasing role on the team in 2009-10.

2008-09 Season: Played in all 27 games and made 15 starts…averaged 28.5 minutes per game…ranked third on the team in scoring with 10.9 ppg…dished out a team-high 72 assists…pulled down 84 rebounds (3.1 rpg) and tied for the team-lead with 45 steals…scored a team game-high for the season with 31 points in the win over Columbia Union on Dec. 1…had 11 double-figure scoring games, including the 31-point outburst and six 20-plus point efforts.

High School: Standout basketball player at Bulkeley High School under Head Coach Al Phillips…led team to No. 1 ranking in the state her senior year…helped team win four conference championships and only lose four games in her last two seasons…1st Team All-Conference her senior season and 2nd Team All-Conference her junior season…earned a spot on the conference All-Defensive team her senior season…named All-State in 2005-06…won a gold medal with her AAU team, the Northstars, in a world tournament in Spain…member of the National Honor Society…Student of the Year in 2007…graduated in the top-10 in her class…honor roll all four years…member of the student council…served as an assistant coach for the local Boys & Girls Club.

Personal: Evebonee “E” Acosta…chose to come to GBC to pursue career aspiration in international marketing and continue to play basketball…chose to play Division II because it challenges her and it polishes her as a teammate and a person…enjoys listening to music, hanging out with friends and shopping…describes herself as “improbable”…high school teammate of fellow GBC player Samantha Sanchez.
