Cross Country Opens Season at the Delaware Invitational

Goldey-Beacom's cross country squads stayed local for the season opener, heading to White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, DE for the Delaware Invitational.

The men's race went off first and it saw John Ferry (Rising Sun, MD) continue to be John Ferry. The senior standout and two-time member of the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Team was second among Division II harriers and eighth overall in 21:11.8. This helped the men close eighth overall with 192 points.

Cody Wiseman (Middletown, DE) ended 50th in 25:34.5 during his GBC debut, fellow freshman Brad Sears (Ashland, VA) finished 67th in 27:46.3, junior Aquillino Rozanski (Olympia, WA) was 69th in 28:01.0 and sophomore Anthony Papiro (Bear, DE) closed 72nd in 30:36.3.

The women were next and it was freshman Amelia Jones (Dudley, England) who was tops for the Lightning, ending 39th in 22:39.3. Sophomore Anna Pissarotti (Piacenza, Italy) closed 74th in 28:14.7, junior Aiyana Adams (Pittsburgh, PA) ended 77th in 29:09.3, sophomore Ana Thaler (Ljubljana, Slovenia) was 80th in 30:22.0 and freshman Destiny Ceballos (Piscataway, NJ) finished 85th in 31:08.5.

The Lightning ended seventh with 207 points.

Goldey-Beacom next Friday will be at the Bill Fritz Invitational in Logan Township, NJ.
