Men’s Basketball Picked to Close Ninth in the CACC

10/28/2025 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom's men's basketball squad was selected to close ninth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference based on a vote of the league's coaches.

Sophomore guard Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, NJ) returns after a stellar debut campaign as a prolific scorer.  He scored in double figures nine times in the Lightning's last 10 contests, closed 21st in the league with 12.0 points per game and 15th with 43 three-pointers.

Sophomore guard Anthony Akande (Newark, NJ) hopes to get more than the 11 starts he had last season.  He scored 13 points against Saint Thomas Aquinas and 10 vs. Millersville.

Junior Julian Williams (Fayetteville, NC) last season competed in 18 contests and netted a season-high 10 points against Bloomfield.  Sophomores Vinicius Paixao (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) and Brian Blanchet (North Babylon, NY) look to compete after not playing a season ago.

Juniors Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY), Masud Stewart (Philadelphia PA) and Elisha Brown (Bowie, MD) all join the Lightning looking to make an impact.

Goldey-Beacom last season had yet another productive campaign in which it played in the CACC Tournament for a seventh time in its last eight competitive seasons.  The team also has notched double-digit league wins in six of those campaigns.

Goldey-Beacom opens its season November 14 against D'Youville as part of a tip-off tournament in Washington, DC.
