Goldey-Beacom Cross Country teams faced multiple Division I opponents at the Delaware Invitational and held its own against the competition.
Sophomore John Ferry (Rising Sun, Md.) led for the Lightning, finishing second overall in the men's 8k with a time of 28:14, his second best time of his career. His best time of 26:39.6 in the 8k came last weekend in the Philadelphia Cross Classic.Â
Senior Kosiani Dunkley (Kingston, Jamaica) finished in sixth place with a time of 29:11. Freshman Cesar Martinez (Eagle Pass, Texas) ran a solid 30: 36, finishing in 13th place. Senior Yusef Shakur (Townsend, DE) ended 24th with 33:09, sophomore Felipe Henao (Bogota, Colombia) finished 34th in 34:35, Aquillino Rozanski (Olympia, Wash.) ended 35th with 34:37, and fellow freshman Jalen Wright (Wilmington, DE) was 39th in 37:36.
Senior Izzy Popoff (Cicero, N.Y.) ended today's 5k race in 33rd with a time of 22:06. Fellow senior Ny'jashia Smith (Newark, DE) ended 38th in 22:17, freshman Liv Drewling (Düsseldorf, Germany) finished 43rd with 22:43, junior Haley Schofield was 49th with 23:25. Senior Madelynn Cool (Smyrna, DE) ended 59th with 23:50, freshman Aiyanna Adams (Pittsburgh, PA) finished 65th with 27:18, junior Kaylah Hill (Brooklyn, NY) was 68th with 28:24 and junior Maya White Eagle (Baraboo, WI) finished 74th with 30:40.
The men closed fourth and the women ended fifth.
Goldey-Beacom competes again in the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, PA next Saturday.Â
