Men’s Basketball Leaves Upstate New York With 75-61 Win at Mercy



Goldey-Beacom went on a big second-half run and solidified it from the free throw line for a 75-61 victory at Mercy in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
 
Goldey-Beacom in the second half went on a tear, using a 31-11 run in just over 11 1/2 minutes to turn a 39-30 deficit into a 61-50 lead with 4:34 remaining.  Zakari McQueen (Petersburg, VA) scored eight points in that time, fellow sophomore Jalen Robinson (South Orange, NJ) netted seven with freshman Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, NJ) adding six.
 
The Lightning (2-2) then won it at the foul line, making their last 12 free throws with Powell going 6-for-6.  GBC overall shot 24-for-35 from the stripe that included 17-for-24 in the second half.
 
Jalen Robinson closed with 16 points, Powell netted 15, McQueen poured in 11 points with senior David Robinson (Philadelphia, PA) adding 10 for the Lightning, who shot 46 percent (11-of-24) from the floor in the second half.  Junior Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ) closed with nine points, 11 rebounds and five steals.
 
TJ Holloway poured in 23 points with Taj Chiles adding 10 for the Mavericks (0-3).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday visits Lock Haven for a 6:00 pm contest.
