Men’s Basketball’s Three-Game Winning Streak Ends With 89-73 Loss at West Chester

Goldey-Beacom looked to continue its winning ways, but had a tough go of it in the first half in an 89-73 loss at West Chester in West Chester, PA.

The Golden Rams in the first half had their defense in another gear, forcing 14 turnovers and the Lightning to shoot just 36 percent (9-of-25) from the floor for a 43-25 lead.  Elijah Allen netted 15 points with Mirko Bramati adding nine for the West Chester, which shot 41 percent (17-of-42) from the field with four 3-pointers.

The Lightning opened the second half with a 13-6 run, closing to 49-38 with 15:34 remaining.  Caleb Bates (Detroit, MI) netted seven points in that time with fellow sophomore Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ) adding four.

But the Golden Rams poured in the next 12 points to take control, opening a 61-38 cushion with 11:53 to go.  Anthony Purnell Jr. scored six points, which went a long way to help West Chester shoot 56 percent (16-of-29) from the floor in the second half with five 3-pointers.
