Women’s Basketball Announces 2022-23 Schedule

10/18/2022 12:00:00 AM

(2022-23 schedule)

Goldey-Beacom hopes to return among the top teams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and will do so against a challenging schedule, which the team has announced.

The campaign opens with two games in Newark, beginning November 11 against Saint Rose and continuing the next day vs. the District of Columbia.  GBC also will be on the road November 16 at Southern Connecticut State.

Goldey-Beacom has 15 regular-season home games this season, beginning with a five-game homestand that starts November 19 against Seton Hill.  That run also includes contests December 3 vs. Holy Family and three days later against Georgian Court to begin league play.

GBC on December 11 visits Indiana (PA), one of three regular-season opponents which made last season's NCAA Tournament.  Jefferson and Chestnut Hill from the CACC South Division are the others.

Key games in January include an encounter on the 10th with 2022 CACC finalist Jefferson to open a three-game homestand and a meeting seven days later with Wilmington (DE).

February also will see a rematch with Jefferson on February 22 in East Falls.  The home finale is February 18 against Chestnut Hill and the regular season ends February 25 at Wilmington.

The top four teams from the North and South Divisions compete in the CACC quarterfinals on February 28.  The winners take part in championship weekend March 4-5 at Jefferson University with the champion earning an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ) begins her senior campaign looking to provide more solid play in the paint.  Perennially one of the league's best when it comes to accuracy, she goes into this season first in school history with a .529 field goal percentage, 14th with 825 points, fifth with 92 blocks and 10th with 518 rebounds.

Junior guard Mickey Williams (Wamboin, Australia) entered last season and provided solid play at both sides of the court.  A solid athlete who definitely will see her playing time increase, she averaged 8.3 points per game a season ago and shot .383 from three-point range.

Senior Alanna Speaks (Dover, DE) worked her way back from injury and saw limited action, but hopes to regain the same form that helped her be among the league's best in points and rebounds.  The former CACC Rookie of the Year and All-East Region player for women's soccer scored in double figures three times a season ago in playing just eight contests.

Goldey-Beacom last season placed a league-best seven on the CACC Academic Honor Roll.  This included Speaks, Sarah Round (Northampton, England), Lexi Weikert (Harrisburg, PA), Jhordan Gardner (Swedesboro, NJ), Janiya Stevens (Ellendale, DE), Julie McCarron (Wilmington, DE) and the graduated Vera Lauhaluoma.
