Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Dealt 82-61 Loss at Dominican (NY)

Goldey-Beacom's usually tough defense unfortunately could not contain a hot shooting squad in Dominican (NY) and was handed an 82-61 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss in Orangeburg, NY.

Dominican in the opening half established momentum by shooting 44 percent (6-of-18) from the floor and forcing 15 turnovers in gaining a 39-32 lead.  Sophomore Briana Seltzer (Reading, PA) paced Goldey-Beacom with 12 points and junior Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ) added eight.

The Chargers then took control in the third quarter with a 24-16 edge on the scoreboard for a 63-48 lead.  Khay'la Latimer scored 11 points and Olivia Levy added six for Dominican, which shot 58 percent (7-of-12) from the floor in that time with four 3-pointers.

Goldey-Beacom entering today had held opponents to under a .400 field goal percentage in nine contests.

Harrison scored 14 points, Seltzer netted 12 and junior Lexi Weikert (Harrisburg, PA) equaled her season best with 10 points for the Lightning (7-11, 2-8 CACC).

Taylor Tomlison scored 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting, Latimer had 19 and seven rebounds with Alexis Suarez adding 15 points for the Chargers (9-10, 4-5), who shot 48 percent (30-of-63) from the floor with eight 3-pointers.

Goldey-Beacom returns home Wednesday to battle Chestnut Hill in a 6:00 pm contest.  The men's game between the same schools follows at 8:00 pm.
