Softball Falls at Post in the CACC Tournament

Goldey-Beacom made the trip into New England to face perennially one of the top teams in the league and was dealt a 9-1 loss by Post in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament in Waterbury, CT.

Fifth-seeded Post in the last of the first inning opened a 2-0 lead with Courtney Brobst lining an RBI triple and then scoring on an error.

The Eagles really opened the flood gates with six more in the second for an 8-0 contest.  Caitlin DeAngelis scored on a wild pitch and Bailee Zaccaro crushed a two-run double to left field as part of the three earned runs in the frame.

Sophomore Kayla Vaillancourt (Edgewater, MD) closed with a hit and freshman Kylie Seagroves (Eagle River, AK) recorded a strikeout in the circle for the Lightning (6-21).

Brobst ended with two hits and Zaccaro had three RBI for the Eagles (18-9).  Bridget Betley allowed one run and eight hits over five innings with a strikeout.

The loss ends an outstanding career for senior Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD), who for parts of five years has given the Lightning stability at first place and has been one of the program's most valuable competitors.  She graduates tied for seventh in team history with five career home runs, tied for 10th with 70 RBI, tied for 17th with 126 hits and 18th outright with a .320 batting average.
