Cross Country Teams Strike at the Delaware Invitational

It was yet another impressive showing for Goldey-Beacom's cross country teams with the men closing second and the women third at the Delaware Invitational, which took place at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, DE.
 
Junior Peter Woelfl (Heilbronn, Germany) led an impressive showing for the Lightning in closing fourth in 28:12.8.  Sophomore Zach Landvik-Larsen (Stroudsburg, PA) again was near the leaders, ending the 8,000-meter run fifth in 28:18.0.
 
Freshman Michael Marioni (Glendora, NJ) continued his strong debut campaign by ending 11th in 29:25.5, senior Chris Townsend (Voorhees, NJ) closed 18th in 30:07.8 and sophomore Chris Crossen (Magnolia, DE) was 19th in 30:18.9.
 
Freshman Micah White (Edison, NJ) ended 23rd in 30:30.7, sophomore Kyle Scherer (Wilmington, DE) was 30th in 31:28.2, DJ Farren (Lewes, DE) closed 32nd in 31:31.5 and fellow freshman Yusef Shakur (Townsend, DE) was 35th in 31:59.2.
 
The women's race saw the continued emergence of freshman Ny'Jashia Smith (Wilmington, DE), who closed the 6,000-meter course 14th in 25:49.9.  It was the second straight meet she was tops for the Lightning, ending 13th two weeks ago at the Hornet Harrier Invitational.
 
Mikayla Cannon (Felton, DE) ended 24th in 28:08.8, fellow freshman Maddie Cool (Smyrna, DE) was 25th in 28:35.3, sophomore Lilly Crone (Felton, DE) finished 39th in 31:48.3, Hailey Crawford (Newark, DE) closed 52nd in 35:31.9 and fellow freshman Ida Rose Moore (Bear, DE) was 58th in 42:35.0.
 
Both teams are in action next Saturday at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational in Gettysburg, PA.  The men go at 10:30 am and the women run at 11:30 am.
