Softball Drops Both at West Chester



Goldey-Beacom ran into one of the area's elite programs and was dealt a pair of losses, 5-0 and 15-0, at West Chester in West Chester, PA.
 
West Chester in the first inning of game one plated four runs to open the scoring.  Trisha Kopinetz lined a two-run double, Jaime Klemas added an RBI single and later scored on a wild pitch.
 
Nicole Makin (Edgewater Park, NJ) went 3-for-3 in her second multi-hit contest of the season and fellow freshman Maddie Beres (Middletown, DE) collected two hits for the Lightning (1-7).  Junior Taylor Beres (Middletown, DE) threw six innings and now has 258 career, remaining in eighth place in team history.
 
Jen Hanshaw tossed a seven-hit shutout for the Golden Rams with three strikeouts. 
 
The Golden Rams in the first inning of game two grabbed 5-0 lead, keyed by Emily Maseth's two-run single.  Abigail Quinn added a two-run double in the second for a 7-0 margin.
 
Senior Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD) recorded a hit in each contest and now has 103 career, remaining in 28th place in GBC annals.  Junior Ali Henriquez (Jersey City, NJ) and freshman Hannah Davis (Bethel, DE) each had a hit in the nightcap.
 
Maseth went 3-for-3 with four RBI and Courtney Stump also went 3-for-3 for the Golden Rams (9-3).  Rachel Butler fired a three-hit shutout with a strikeout and a walk.
 
Goldey-Beacom is back on the road Saturday for its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener at Felician.  First pitch in Lyndhurst, NJ is at 1:00 pm.
