(2018-19 schedule)

High expectations buoyed by a talented roster and previous success will be key for Goldey-Beacom's Men's Basketball squad, which has announced its 2018-19 schedule.

A trip to Waltham, MA for an in-region crossover tournament opens the slate with a game November 10 at host Bentley and a neutral-site contest the following afternoon against Saint Anselm.  After visiting Saint Thomas Aquinas on November 14, GBC three nights later is home against Bridgeport as part of the College's and alumni's "Legacy Night."

Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play begins December 4 against Georgian Court as part of what should be a challenging schedule around the holidays.  Goldey-Beacom visits Wilmington (DE) on December 8 and New Haven four nights later before home games December 19 against Jefferson and Merrimack on December 30.

February will provide plenty of challenge that includes an intriguing week of back-to-back road games.  Goldey-Beacom's second tilt vs. reigning league champion Jefferson is February 13 in East Falls and a rematch of last year's CACC semifinals against Dominican (NY) is three days later in Orangeburg, NY.

Conference play ends March 2 at home against local-rival Wilmington (DE).  The top eight teams go to the CACC Tournament that takes place March 5-10 and the champion received an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

The schedule also consists of five teams who last season won at least 20 games, eight which made their respective conference tournament and five which advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Goldey-Beacom (20-10, 15-4 CACC) last season tied the school record for most victories, marking the fourth time it has done this, and notched back-to-back 20-win seasons for the second time in program history (2009-10, 2010-11).  It also advanced to the CACC Tournament semifinals and won 11 of its last 13 contests.

Goldey-Beacom's success this upcoming season relies a great deal on senior guard Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ), the reigning CACC Player of the Year.  An explosive player who is as solid on both ends of the floor as it gets, Taite last season also was picked first team NABC All-East Region, CCA All-East Region and a member of the CACC All-Tournament Team.

One of the College's most gifted student-athletes and one of its most dedicated, Taite last season closed 61st in the country with 19.4 points per game, 14th with 67 steals, 20th with 2.23 steals per contest, 21st with 156 free throws, 51st with 581 points, 69th with 1,058 minutes and 76th with 35.3 minutes per game.  He also ended first in the CACC in free throws, second in points and third in points per game.

While it is hard to believe this is his senior year, Taite enters the campaign fourth in school history with 1,236 points, second with a .396 three-point percentage, second with 318 free throws, third with 148 three-pointers, fourth with 268 assists, tied for fourth with 167 steals, fifth with 385 field goals and seventh with 388 rebounds.

There are other players on the team and one is senior Mahir Johnson (Chester, PA), who is a solid competitor and can be seen in the gym working on his game almost every time the lights are on.  He ended last season first in the CACC with a .459 three-point percentage, 15th with a .460 field goal percentage, 29th with 39 three-pointers, 31st with 11.9 points per game and scored in double figures 20 times that included 15 of his last 16 games.

Sophomore Marcellus Livingston (Linden, NJ) made a huge impact last season with his great shooting ability and solid offensive play.  He ended 37th in the league with 11.4 points per game, ninth with a .787 free throw percentage, 14th with a .397 three-point percentage, 25th with 46 three-pointers, 27th with 5.3 rebounds per game and scored in double figures 18 times that included 10 of his last 12 contests.
