Softball Drops a Pair at Shippensburg



Goldey-Beacom ran into early deficits in both of its games at Shippensburg and was dealt losses by scores of 7-2 and 6-2 in Shippensburg, PA.
 
The Raiders in game one got RBI singles from Chloe Collins and Meghan Klee to open a 2-0 lead before Tara Bicko lined a run-scoring double in the second for a 3-0 cushion.
 
Charlee King (New Castle, DE) rapped two hits and fellow senior Paulynn Mao (Anaheim, CA) lifted a sacrifice fly for the Lightning.  Millville, NJ sophomore Alexa Calareso (1-4) permitted five runs – four earned – and seven hits over 2 1/3 innings with two strikeouts.
 
Collins amassed three hits and three RBI With Addy Szczerba (1-0) getting the win, striking out five and allowing just two runs – one earned – and six hits over 5 1/3 innings.  Julia Tosti came into a 5-2 contest and notched her third save of the year, firing 1 1/3 scoreless frames.
 
Shippensburg in game two saw Macy Luck record a sacrifice fly in the second and Anna Warfield add a run-scoring single later in the frame for a 2-0 lead.
 
Mao notched an RBI single in the fourth to make it 3-1 and sophomore Shelby Murphy (Laurel, DE), a two-time reigning member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll, recorded an RBI groundout in the fifth.
 
Tower City, PA junior Kylie Doyle (3-7) gave up five runs – three earned – and eight hits over three innings for the Lightning.  Taryn Wilson (5-3) struck out eight over seven innings for the Raiders, allowing two runs – one earned – and three hits.
 
Goldey-Beacom hits the road Tuesday for a make-up doubleheader at Dominican (NY), beginning at 2:30 pm.
