Women’s Basketball Rolls to 81-65 Victory Over Wilmington

Goldey-Beacom seized momentum in the first half and was on its way to an 81-65 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over Wilmington (DE) at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning grabbed a 42-30 by shooting 46 percent (16-of-35) from the field with eight 3-pointer and limiting the Wildcats to just 34 percent (11-of-32).  Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) had 12 points, seven assists and five rebounds in the half with fellow junior Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) adding eight points.

Bruno closed with 24 points and 11 assists for her second double-double of the season, Bryson scored 18 points and Destiny Harper (Mount Solon, VA) recorded season highs of 11 points and nine rebounds for GBC, which shot 44 percent (29-of-66) from the floor.

Bruno now has 68 three-pointers for the campaign, making her the school's single-season leader.  She broke the mark of 65 she set two seasons ago and equaled by Mikila Stefanski last season.

LaShyra Williams netted 16 points, Macy Robinson recorded 14 and 10 rebounds with Jasmine Lee pouring in 14 points for Wilmington (12-15, 9-9 CACC), which shot 39 percent (22-of-57) from the floor.

GBC (16-11, 12-6) has a one game lead over Chestnut Hill (11-7) for second place in the CACC South Division.  The two teams end the regular season against each other Tuesday in Philadelphia with GBC needing a victory to secure second and a home game in the CACC quarterfinals.

The Lightning during the games hosted "Hoop It Up," an invitation for a meet-and-greet among Goldey-Beacom alumni and the parents of student-athletes.
