Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Taite's 29 Points Not Enough in Men's Basketball's 74-71 Loss at SNHU

Despite a career-best 29 points from junior Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ), Goldey-Beacom was dealt a 74-71 loss by Southern New Hampshire in Manchester, NH.

The Penmen (2-0) forged a 68-68 tie with 1:37 left when Chris Walters hit a layup and grabbed a 70-68 cushion with 54 seconds to go on Daquaise Andrews' layup.  The Lightning could not convert on multiple chances to tie or take the lead and the ball ended up in the hands of Walters, whose two free throws with 11 seconds to play iced it.

Taite bested his 26 points from February 20, 2016 against Wilmington (DE) by shooting 10-of-17 from the floor with six 3-pointers, also a personal best.  Senior Dante Thompson (Coram, NY) and freshman Kyle Elliot (Rahway, NJ) netted 13 points apiece for the Lightning (0-2), who shot 47 percent (29-of-62) from the floor.

Walters netted 24 points on 7-of-15 shooting with Andrews and Dimitri Floras adding 16 points apiece for the Penmen.

Goldey-Beacom is home Saturday as part of the College's "Legacy Weekend" against fifth-ranked Saint Thomas Aquinas at 7:00 pm.
